Cosplay Competition  

Saturday  10/17  6:30PM

Location:  The Stage

Make sure to sign up at the cosplay registration table located to the front right of the stage area.  Kit, our head of cosplay, will be taking sign ups all day on Saturday.  There will be a process of elimination and the top 10 cosplays will be judged for competition.  

 

VIP After Party

This after party is exclusive to VIP wristband attendees that are 21+.  Party responsibly!   Confirmed guests to appear at the after party are Miko Hughes, Howard Berger, Barry Bostwick, Nell Campbell, Patricia Quinn, and more!

EVAN MICHELSON

Evan Michelson is co-owner of Obscura Antiques & Oddities as well as a musical/performance artist with background in the East Village industrial/fetish/giant robot scene. She is also an ethical vegetarian, a Victorian hairwork collector, an aesthete, and scholar-in-residence at the Morbid Anatomy Museum, where she delivers regular lectures. Evan will present, “You Can’t Kill Me, I’m Already Dead.” Notes from a Gothic Life.

 

 

1:15PM FON DAVIS

In his two decade career, Fon Davis has worked on over 30 feature films. As a alumnus of the Industrial Light and Magic Model Shop, Fon has worked on features such as Star Wars, Pearl Harbor, Starship Troopers, Galaxy Quest, Terminator III, Mission Impossible III and the Matrix series.

In addition to his work in visual effects, Fon has also worked in Disney’s art departments as a concept designer/model maker, and on several stop motion projects including the Nightmare Before Christmas and Coraline. More recently, Fon worked on Interstellar, Guardians of the Galaxy and Elysium.

Fon is a creative director at Fonco, guest host, and instructor for the Stan Winston School, writes and develops his own projects, frequently using his broad knowledge in entertainment and visual storytelling. With his vast experience, Fon is well-placed to discuss the art and craft of model making for cinema, from concept design to hybrid practical and CD VFX, with a particular expertise in knowing where models and miniatures can play a role in today’s digital world.

Featuring Patricia Quinn, Barry Bostwick, & Nell Campbell.

 

4:15PM TERRORVISION REUNION

Sinister Creature Con celebrates the 1986 cult classic, TerrorVision. This film inspired the creation of this convention. Featuring Director Ted Nicoloau, FX artist Cleve Hall, & actors Gerrit Graham, Mary Woronov, & Diane Franklin.

MIKO HUGHES

Miko Hughes is known for his film roles as a child actor as Gage Creed in Pet Sematary (1989), as astronaut Jim Lovell's son, Jeffrey Lovell, in Apollo 13, as an autistic boy opposite Bruce Willis in Mercury Rising (1998) and as Dylan, Heather Langenkamp's son in Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994), as well as his recurring role as Aaron on Full House from 1990 to 1995.

1:45PM HOWARD BERGER

Academy Award Winning special effects makeup artist, monster maker & animatronic character creator, Howard Berger, grew up in Los Angeles loving movies, special effects makeup and monsters and met his idol, the legendary character creator Stan Winston, when he was 13 years old. Stan took him under his wing and encouraged him to be an up-and-coming character creation artisan. Stressing the importance of education, Winston promised to give Berger a job at Stan Winston Studio after he graduated high school with the understanding he maintain high grades and prove his attention to detail. Winston lived up to his promise and hired Berger at 18 years old to work at Stan Winston Studio on PREDATOR, ALIENS and PUMPKINHEAD. In 1988, Howard co-founded KNB EFX Group, Inc. with Gregory Nicotero and former partner Robert Kurtzman, and over the past 23 years, they have become one of the most prolific Special Makeup Effects and Character Creation studios in Hollywood.

Kristin Bauer is best known for her roles as vampire Pamela Swynford De Beaufort on the HBO television series True Blood, Jerry's girlfriend Gillian on Seinfeld, and as sorceress Maleficent in the ABC series Once Upon a Time.

How does reality tv, documentaries, and competition television shows shape, influence, or hurt careers within makeup & sfx? Join FACE OFF alumni Roy Wooley, Keaghlan Ashley, Nichole Chilelli, Tate Steinsiek, and Schell Studios artist and Making Monsters co-star Mikey Rotella as they discuss the pros and cons of the effect of reality television on the makeup, fabrication, and special effects industry.
