Featured Artist - Shelby Michael Patton

Shelby Michael Patton is a professional, award-winning SFX Make-Up Artist, Fabricator, and Costume Designer based in Los Angeles, CA. A graduate of Boston University, she holds a BA in History and International Relations and is a former participant in the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme (JET), where she lived and worked in Tokyo for two years. A variety of her academic essays on film and popular culture have been published in academic journals both domestically and abroad. Shelby holds a Masters in Make-Up Artistry from the Make-Up Designory in Burbank, CA, where she received her professional training in special effects and fabrication. Recently, Shelby won 1st Place at the 2015 IMATS Los Angeles Battle of the Brushes competition and has fabricated armor for promotional video game advertisements. In June, she returned from 3 months abroad in Beijing, China, where she worked as a SFX make-up artist on the set of a kung-fu fantasy film.
